AOL 3x and Alternate Instructions for 4x

To Enable Cookies

  1. Click "My AOL"
  2. Click "Preferences"
  3. Click the "WWW" icon (the AOL Internet properties window will appear)
  4. Click the "Advanced" tab
  5. Click to deselect "Warn Before Accepting Cookies"

To Enable Java Scripting

  1. Click "My AOL"
  2. Click "Preferences"
  3. Click the "WWW" icon (the AOL Internet properties window will appear)
  4. Click "Security Settings"
  5. Click "Custom"
  6. Click "Settings"
  7. Click "Scripting"
  8. Under "Active Scripting"
    --Click "Enable"
  9. Click "OK"

 

AOL 4x and AOL 5x

To Enable Cookies

Follow these instructions only if you are using the browser that came with AOL. If you use Internet Explorer or Netscape, follow those instructions.

  1. Click "Start" from the Windows 95/95 taskbar
  2. Click "Settings"
  3. Click "Control Panels"
  4. Click the "Internet" icon (the Internet Properties window will appear)
  5. Click the "Sdvanced" tab
  6. Scroll down list to "Cookies" icon
  7. Click "Always Accept Cookies"
  8. Click "OK"
  9. Close AOL and restart the computer

To Enable Java Scripting

  • Not availaible

 

AOL 5x (Alternate Instructions)

To Enable Cookies

  1. Click "My AOL"
  2. Click "Preferences" from drop-down menu
  3. Click "WWW" (the AOL Internet Properties window will appear)
  4. Click the "Security" tab
  5. Click "Internet Zone"
  6. Click "Custom" (the security settings will appear)
  7. Scroll down list to "Cookies"
  8. Click "Enable"

To Enable Java Scripting

  1. Click "My AOL"
  2. Click "Preferences" from drop-down menu
  3. Click "WWW" (the AOL Internet Properties window will appear)
  4. Click the "Security" tab
  5. Click "Internet Zone"
  6. Click "Custom Level"
  7. Scroll down list to "Scripting"
  8. Under "Active Scripting"
    --Click "Enable"
  9. Click "OK"

 

AOL 6x and 7x

To Enable Cookies

  1. From AOL Toolbar
    --Click "Settings"
  2. Click "Preferences" (the AOL Internet Properties window will appear)
  3. From the "Organization Column"
    --Click "Internet Properties"
  4. Click "Security"
  5. Click "Internet Zone" (has a world icon). The default browser is Internet Explorer 6x.
  6. Follow instructions to enable cookies and Java Scripting for Internet Explorer 6x
  7. If the browser selected is Netscape Communicator, follow instructions listed above

To Enable Java Scripting

  1. Follow instructions to enable Java scripting for Internet Explorer 6x
  2. If the browser selected is Netscape Communicator, follow instructions listed above

 

AOL 8x

To Enable Cookies

  1. Click on the AOL "Settings" icon.
  2. In dropdown that appears, select "Preferences"
  3. Click the "By Category" tab
  4. Find "Internet" in the listings
  5. Click on the "Privacy" tab
  6. Click on the "Advanced" button.
  7. Ensure that "Override Automatic Cookie Handling" is checked
  8. First and Third party cookies should be set to "Accept"
  9. Check "Always Allow Session Cookies"
  10. Click on "OK"
  11. Click "Apply" and then "OK"
  12. Exit AOL and restart your computer

 

AOL 9x

To Enable Cookies

  1. Click on the AOL "Settings" icon
  2. In the "Essentials" section
  3. Click on "Internet [Web] Options"
  4. Click on "Privacy" tab
  5. Click on the "Advanced" button
  6. Ensure that "Override Automatic Cookie Handling" is checked.
  7. First and third party cookies should be set to "Accept"
  8. Check "Always Allow Session Cookies"
  9. Click on "OK"
  10. Click "Apply"
  11. Click "OK"
  12. Exit AOL and restart your computer
